The Modern American Musical Theatre
Broadway Musicals are a huge part of American culture. Many popular television shows of the day have done their own episodes
where they have incorporated "musical numbers" into the show that can parody famous Broadway Musicals. People walk around with a "song in their heart" or "whistle a happy tune" while their working or on their way to work. Many times this can be a song from a Broadway Musical. With a twist on this phenomena, many shows today are based on popular films or television shows which have been rewritten and have musical numbers added. Everything from "Spamalot" from the Monty Python troupe, to "Legally Blonde", "Jerry Springer - The Opera", "Shrek The Musical", "Mary Poppins", "The Little Mermaid", "The Goodbye Girl" and more. Here we will continue to follow the trends and give information about the new and the classic Broadway Musicals.
