Billy Elliot is based on the film written by Lee Hall and directed by Stephen Daldry in 2000. Set in the fictional Coal Mining town of 'Everington' in the real County Durham, UK, it is a heartwarming and funny tale of 11-year-old Billy, an aspiring dancer and his determination to follow his dream. The story was adapted for the West End stage as Billy Elliot the Musical in 2005; it opened on Broadway in 2008 and Australia in 2007. |
